Installation Process for a Walk-on Skylight
The installation process for a Walk-on Skylight largely follows the same steps as for normal skylights, except for the following points:
Slope of the Curb - Upstand:
- The Curb - Upstand can have a minimal slope or be completely flat.
Width of the Beams:
- The beams can be wider than the 5 cm black edge of the Walk-on Skylight.
Seamless Connection:
- For a seamless connection of the Walk-on Skylight with the surrounding floor, it is important to first accurately determine the height of the floor around the skylight.
- The top glass pane of a Walk-on Skylight consists of three layers of 8 mm tempered and laminated glass. This means that the Curb - Upstand is raised by 25.5 mm after installation.
- Use the following formula to calculate the required height of the Curb - Upstand:
Floor height minus 30 mm (25 mm glass + 5 mm bitumen) = required height of the Curb - Upstand.
By carefully following these steps, you ensure that your Walk-on Skylight perfectly aligns with your floor, resulting in a seamless and aesthetically pleasing installation.
